Case Study: Fabrication, Laser Cutting, Welding, and Assembly for Retail Kiosks
This custom information kiosk required relatively large fabricated panels at 48″ long by 36″ wide. On the other end of the size spectrum, various components required precision machined and metal-formed features at ±0.005” tolerances.
The custom enclosures were built exactly according to the customer’s 2D CAD drawings to ensure compatibility with all retail space installations. J&E required only six weeks to manufacture 35 of these information kiosks for a customer in Minneapolis, Minnesota – from the design process to the delivery of the finished units.
Custom Cold Rolled Steel – Galvannealed and 304 Stainless
J&E begins every project with premium materials – in this case, cold rolled galvannealed steel and 304 stainless steel, ranging in thicknesses from 0.0239” to 0.0598” (24 GA to 16 GA).
Precision Laser Cutting Services
Our state-of-the-art laser cutter system carefully outlined the necessary sheet metal blanks, which were then turret punched and formed, with the edges precisely ground.
Quality Metal Finishing and Powder Coating
The stainless steel was finished to a #4 brush finish – the premium stainless steel finish used in a wide range of consumer applications, such as stainless steel appliances. Careful, detailed surface was performed to remove all welding scales, greases, metal oxides, and any other contaminations. Finally, the galvannealed steel was powder coated to improve corrosion resistance and durability.
Complete Welding and Dimensional Inspection
J&E’s skilled welding technicians carefully spot welded all of the different panels and components together, following the customer’s dimensions to a T. Finally, the completed kiosk was visually and dimensionally inspected to ensure all tolerances were accurately met.
